The holiday season at El Pescador is always a most festive time of year. We had almost a dozen large families ranging from 4 to 20 members each including the Niles/Galloways from Sonoma, CA, the Adlers from Chicago and many more. We also hosted guests from several countries. The Dibiases were here from Brazil, Roger and Gigi Luscombe and their daughter Jessica from the United Kingdom returned for the third straight year, there were a number of families from Canada, Nico Dorion and JL Trombetta were here from Guatemala, and so the list grows.

This season was also filled with fishing families the Niles/Galloways all caught their first bonefish, some caught permit and tarpon as well, as did the Adlers and Lambiottis. So this year, in addition to families reuniting to celebrate, we also handed out a multitude of awards for first fish caught, biggest fish, etc.

Earlier in the month, we were honored to host famous flytier Michael Robrahn and his Yellowdog crew who landed big tarpon, permit and bones. Michael also created some new patterns. He returned to the states to tie up these new and original patterns for our fishery and we hope to have them in our shop later this year. Yet another El Pescador exclusive, custom flies for El Pescador's 300 square miles of heaven.

Returning to terrorize the fish were also some annual guests. Ned Ruffin and Sean Tierney always seems to bring great weather with them, and this year was no different. In fact, our holiday weather was A+ throughout most of the holidays.

Ken Burkhart and Steve Bradford along with Smitty, Frank and host of others have brightened our family style dinners with many tales (some actually true for a change) of their conquests on the flats, not to mention their legendary after dinner trips into San Pedro. Happily, these trips into town didn’t end in any jail time. Nice going, boys!

We brought in the New Year with a big bonfire to celebrate the arrival of 2008. The 2008 weather and fishing continue to excel, so pack your bags, call or email Chris at chris@elpescador.com or me at bob@elpescador.com and get ready to visit one of the world’s great saltwater flats destinations.

The fish and staff at El Pescador staff are waiting to greet you on the dock and once again say, “Welcome.”
