Fishing Report August 2008

August fishing off Ambergris Caye produced several grand slams for our guests. August is traditionally the peak of the tarpon migration, and this year didn't disappoint. Bones are in a growth phase and the permit have been plentiful. Details available here.

July is tarpon time and many of our guests caught there very first this month. It has been a trip to remember for a lifetime for many of our anglers. Maybe it will be your turn next?
June 2008 Fishing Report

We had some rain and some good fishing this month. Early migrating tarpon are starting to show and the bones have been plentiful. The largest tarpon was 140 lb. and fell for an angler from Scotland who fishes around the world for them and said " This is the best tarpon fishing I’ve have ever found."

Over 20 permit landed plus lots of big jacks too. The bonefishing was very fine with plenty of tailing bones keeping anglers busy. A couple of tarpon a day rounded out the action.

The past two weeks have been 'chamber of commerce' conditions and the fishing reflected it. ESPN was shooting and lots of fish were making an appearance. Great fishing and perfect weather.

Fishing in general has been good with an emphasis on Permit…first time guest Jim V. of Olympia Washington enjoyed catching his first Permit on a fly. A ten pounder no less. Jim also landed his first bonefish, all in all he caught between 30 and 40 bones on his first ever time in the salt.

Bonefish were plentiful in February with a fish in the 8 lb range landed by a return guest. Lots of jacks in the 12-18 lb range showed for some fun and games too. Tarpon were present as well as many permit.

Three grand slams this month during the full moon week. January was a great start of the new year for these anglers.

Earlier in the month, we were honored to host famous flytier Michael Robrahn and his Yellowdog crew who landed big tarpon, permit and bones. Michael also created some new patterns. The holidays are a great time to be in Belize.
